Nike Sportswear’s Air Max Lab pop up to open in Surry Hills (Sydney)

To celebrate the 29th anniversary of the Nike Air Max 1, the  Air Max Lab is set to open in Surry Hills, where Nike Sportswear will hold a month-long program of footwear-related events. The Lab will open on the 12th of March with a Q&A session with local sneaker-heads like Christopher Kevin Au, Jazz Bonifacio and Sneaker Freaker Editor-in-Chief Simon “Woody” Wood.

Events to take place during the Surry Hills residency include Artists of Air, which will showcase the work of Elliot Routledge (Numskull), paper sculptor Benja Harney and video artist Joyce Ho on 17 March, who have all been commissioned to bring the design ethos of Air Max to life. On the 23rd of March, Nike + Run Club will take a special route starting and finishing at the Air Max Lab. On March 26, official ‘Air Max Day’, the Air Max Lab will be open in its entirety for the first time to celebrate the sneakers lovers of Sydney.

Visitors to the lab will be able to explore Australian design and art inspired by Air Max, view the latest Nike releases (including the Air Max BW Ultra), and will have access to custom sneaker services including a sneaker cleaning station and a lace & dubrae bar.
