Just a few weeks ago, Ben & Jerry’s released three new flavours to the market, powering up their already wildly popular range with a focus on fudge (Hazed & Confused), caramel (Karamel Sutra), and raspberry jam (That’s My Jam). Arguments about which flavour is better haven’t quite settled yet, with most people admitting that they are all equally necessary additions to the flavour spectrum Ben & Jerry’s continue to perfect.
First, Hazed & Confused, centres around a nutty, chocolate core, filled the rest of the tub with smooth choc & hazelnut creams with generous chocolate chips for added texture. Karamel Sutra switched the nuts out and brings in thick stream of caramel, layered throughout the chocolate and caramel ice cream, again with chocolate chips providing the texture right before you get to the velvety core.
That’s My Jam brings in the rich raspberry flavour consistent throughout both the core and the surrounding ice cream, mixing up with chocolate for a mishmash of sweet and creamy. What all the cores had in common was that mix of crunch and cream – it made it some of the most enjoyable Ben & Jerry’s we’ve had to date. That’s My Jam was my personal favourite – I loved the raspberry that ran through as the core, and tasting that with the chunks of chocolate… doesn’t get much better than that! But, as mentioned, everyone at AU HQ seems to have their own favourites. Pretty sure Johnny ate all of the Karamel Sutra before I even had a chance to taste it.
The new selection of flavours are available Australia in 458mL pint tubs (RRP $13.95)
