Apex burger joint Pub Life Kitchen have ventured on down to the former digs of Darlinghurst’s notorious Club 77 (where Starfuckers regularly had night-crawlers in a frenzy), which was recently overturned and transformed into a stylish subterranean diner simply called 77. In the underground diner, PLK have set up a residency called PLK Express, offering a limited menu of two burgers and two sides.
Pub Life Kitchen is often a reference point for Sydney’s burger scene. At time of writing, the latest five-star review on their Facebook page accurately states, “this is no mere burger my friend, this is artwork in its true form”. It’s hard to disagree when you bite into one of their signature O.G or The Bird burgers. Though those favourites don’t seem to be on the menu for PLK Express, there is a simple Cheeseburger ($14) made with one of their delicious salt aged patties, double cheese, pickles (McClure’s we assume), onion, ketchup, and mustard. There’s also a special 77Burger ($14), which is a salt aged patty stacked with cheese, pickles, tomato, lettuce, and a special sauce. Sides include Fries ($5) and Dirty Fries ($9). We also have an inkling that Chicken Nuggets may on the menu some nights.
