Resort Review: One Bedroom Sunset Apartment at The Point Resort (Bargara, Queensland)

The Point Resort sits beside a beautiful coast and town in Bargara, Queensland. But is location the only thing this resort has going for it? Lachlan brings us this review.

Situated only a few metres from crashing waves and picnic tables, The Point Resort in Bargara is an ideal choice for families and couples on the Southern tip of the Great Barrier Reef in Queensland. An easy 20 minute drive from Bundaberg Airport will get you to the resort, and from here it’s only a 5 minute walk around the corner in to town where cafes and bars can be found.

Time can be spent at the playground and BBQ entertaining area that is only a short walk away along the beach, that is if you choose to stay local and not visit the Bundaberg Rum distillery which is only 20 minutes away.

Friendly and welcoming staff greeted us as we collected our room key and made our way to the top floor past hand-written signs that advertised bike hire and reef tours organised through the resort. A tropical plant and tree atrium was enclosed just beyond the foyer and would be a pleasant sight even from the 4th floor. Clean, yet faded coloured walls lead you to be unsuspecting of what to expect from the rooms. But, how delighted we would be.

A long hallway opened up into a living area with a digital flat-screen TV, couch, coffee table and dining table. Across from it was a full equipped kitchen – perfect for a long stay. Once bags were put away in the wardrobe it finally became apparent just how spacious and grand the room was. It never felt confining or cluttered, instead was conducive with complementing that luxurious holiday feel, at an affordable price.

A large Queen bed sat under thin-lined artwork that further exaggerated the size of the bed. The firm pillows would allow for a great nights rest with the assistance of the powerful air-conditioning. A free WiFi code was left on the dining table among brouchers for local attractions.

The bathroom featured a roomy shower, washer and dryer opposite a great spa-bath. Even at 6’3” it was substantial. Although they were never used, the washer and dryer were tested to be functioning and complimentary detergent was provided.

A three-piece seat and table set was set out on the balcony. The warm Queensland sun beat down on the green grass of the golf course behind the hotel and just beyond the resorts pool and Putt-Putt course that lay directly below our balcony.

The verdict: Our stay was only for two nights, and what a shame that was. The resort really highlighted the vast amount of activities that were within a few minutes of walking or ready to book at reception. Their welcoming attitude was frequent throughout town and accompanied the relaxed coastal, chilled vibes. Although you wouldn’t be spending much time in your room with so many activities, the clean and highly functional rooms of the The Point Resort would be the perfect, affordable beginning and closing bookends to your day.

You can choose from modern 1, 2 or 3 bedroom holiday apartments by contacting The Point Resort at 1800 823 911 or 07 4150 5000.

They’re located at 19-25 The Esplanade, Bargara QLD 4670.
