Situated in Albury’s central business district, the Atura Hotel is the perfect stopover for those not only travelling for business, but also for those that simply want a unique stay in a culturally diverse and welcoming town.
Upon entering the foyer the staff welcome us with warm enthusiasm as we take in the unusual decor. The hotel itself is visually intoxicating with vivid patterns adorning rugs and walls, and an array of quirky pieces splashed throughout. Formally the Rydges hotel, Atura boasts seven stories with the choice of Accessible, King Deluxe, Twin Deluxe, and Two-Bedroom Apartments.
All rooms are incredibly spacious and come with complimentary wifi and parking, with the choice of buffet breakfast. We checked in to the Atura King Deluxe on the seventh floor (starting from $139/Night) which upon closer inspection I was pleased to see not only had a desk, table and a couch, but also a coffee machine with complimentary coffee pods, a fully stocked mini bar, and a wonderful view of Albury.
The thing I love most about Albury is that even though it identifies itself as a country town, it is always so culturally enriching. A mere 5 minute walk down the road will find you at Albury’s ‘MAMA’ gallery, which always showcases an array of visually striking work, including an impressive catalogue of photographic prints. Currently Atura is offering a ‘Speed To MAMA’ deal meaning that from $179 per night guests can enjoy overnight accommodation, two tickets to Mama’s ‘Speed’ exhibition, and a $25 fuel voucher. The exhibition runs until the 6th of November, and I would definitely recommend checking it out, not just because it’s a great show, but also to support local art and local artists.
If you’re feeling hungry upon your return from MAMA, why not dine at the Roadhouse Bar & Grill located in the lobby of Atura. They have an extensive menu showcasing local produce where possible, and a great selection of steaks and burgers. The bar connoisseur is extremely knowledgable, and will help you match wines with your dinner, or whip you up an extremely decadent cocktail.
I would highly recommend the Cold Drip Espresso Martini $17 if you’re game, or if you are after more of a wind down, try a calming herbal tea. If you’d prefer a snack on the run, head past the ‘grab and go’ section on the way up to your room. It’s fully stocked with chocolates, drinks, and all manner of snacks, and definitely quenches those midnight cravings.
You’re able to make the most of your morning with the hotel’s impressive buffet breakfast. Great coffee, and a selection of hot foods, cereals, pastries and fruits is the perfect way to start your day; I was most definitely satisfied.
All in all, I found my stay at Atura Albury to be supremely comfortable, and a fantastic getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life. I thoroughly enjoyed the spacious rooms and enjoyed people watching on the streets below. The added thoughtful touches really do make all the difference, and I found the decor to be instantly uplifting. If passing through Albury, a stay at Atura is a must. So park yourself at the bar, enjoy a game of pool, drink delicious cocktails, and enjoy life at a slower pace whilst still having all of its luxuries at your fingertips.
