From now up until 9th October Sydney’s artsy French style hotel Sofitel Sydney Wentworth will be offering their guests and visitors an art-inspired high tea that has been designed to celebrate the Art Gallery of New South Wales’ Archibald Prize for this year. As an official partner for the portrait prize, the property has tasked Executive Chef Boris Cuzon with curating a high tea experience twisted with little creative flourishes to bring something different to the tradition.
One of Australia’s oldest and most inspiring art awards, the Archibald Prize is awarded to the best portrait painting and has remained an institution since its inception in 1921. The Prize has been awarded to some of this country’s most important artists including George Lambert and Brett Whiteley.
The High Tea is served on a gold, bevelled picture frame and focuses on imaginative food-art, touching up various delectables like lemon meringue tartlets, mango éclair, vanilla bean panna cotta, and homemade scones served along with Ronnefeldt Tea and (for a bit extra) Veuve Clicquot.
“We’re delighted to continue our long-standing partnership with the Archibald Prize, in a year that marks the 50th anniversary of the Wentworth Hotel and Sofitel’s 11th year working alongside the Gallery to promote the esteemed art prize and exhibition,” said Craig Reaume, Hotel Manager of Sofitel Sydney Wentworth.
Those looking to pair up the High Tea with a night’s stay and breakfast dishes in the morning (at Garden Court restaurant) can do so with the “Magnifique Breakfast Package” from $296 per night.
Until 9th October, Sofitel Sydney Wentworth’s stylish Soiree Bar is offering the Archibald High Tea for $55pp (including Ronnefeldt Tea) or $75pp (including a glass of Veuve Clicquot). The offer also features on ticket to the Archibald Prize 2016 at the Art Gallery of New South Wales. For more information click HERE or contact the hotel on 02 9228 9188.
