Cebu Pacific has announced the introduction of direct flights between Manila and popular surfing destination Siargao just in time for Australia’s summer holidays. With year-round fares from Sydney starting at AU$384, this increases accessibility to the tear-drop shaped island, which is located 800km southeast of the Philippines capital in the province of Surigao del Norte.
The low-cost carrier will now be operating six non-stop flights between Manila and Siargao, adding greatly to the airline’s already extensive domestic network across the island country. This is particularly valuable over the festive period, seeing as from now until 31st January Cebu Pacific will fly daily between Sydney and Manila with budget-friendly airfares in an effort to increase Australian tourism to the Philippines.
Siargao is often regarded as the surfing capital of the Philippines and regularly attracts backpackers and adventure enthusiasts. Non-surfers also keep it as a destination due to the islands openness and the prospect of island hopping across the Philippines.
