Millett Group, the team behind Lord Byron, have officially opened doors to The Surf House – Byron Bay’s newest accommodation with its own distinctive rooftop bar.
Seeing as the Millett Group are also behind the award-winning Wake Up! Byron Bay hostel, this boutique, design-forward property should be an attractive option for the the inevitable influx of visitors about to descend upon the iconic beachside town thanks to loosened travel restrictions.
The idea isn’t dissimilar to the current trend of boutique properties around the world finding news ways to blend the quality services of a hotel with the social-first aspects of a hostel, which The Surf House will be doing in its own unique way.
Transforming a heritage listed property with modern design, The Surf House will be awash with references to the long-standing surf culture that has defined Northern NSW. This will be most evident up on The Rooftop, with local drops taking pride of place alongside “beach chic bric-a-brac” and throwback Aussie surf posters and photos.
Local brewery Stone & Wood will be best represented on the rooftop, alongside Cape Byron Distillery.
“The last few months have been tough and like so many businesses in the tourism and hospitality industry we’ve had to shift our goal posts and look to provide something that will be attractive to the domestic traveller,” said Christian Millett, Owner Operator Millett Group. “In a competitive market like Byron Bay, we’ve come up with something unique in The Surf House, offering a quality yet affordable accommodation alternative for guests looking to immerse themselves into the iconic Byron Bay lifestyle.”
Guest rooms range from private queens with balconies, ensuite bathrooms and ocean views, to shared room options accommodation four, sex or eight guests. All guests will have complimentary access to surf boards and free high speed Wi-Fi, nodding to the digital nomads who frequent Byron with several specially designed working spaces.
Social activities will also be a regular feature for guests, from yoga and personal training to guided lighthouse tours and other social events on The Rooftop.
The Surf House is located at 23 Lawson St, Byron Bay. More information can be found at thesurfhouse.com.au.
