Not a fan of stuffing turkeys and layering trifles on Christmas day? Not many people are. Christmas is always an exciting time of the year, but it’s also just damn busy. And ‘busy’ is where online meal delivery services like to play the hardest. Not all of them are made equal though, and it seems like none really had the good sense to curate some truly epic Christmas packs. The exception is Pomelo Online.
Delivering to Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne, Pomelo Online is a platform that kicks trendy ready-to-cook meals up a notch to something much closer to restaurant quality. The fresh-faced service was created by the same team behind one of Sydney’s best restaurant-cafes Bowery Lane, and lists some truly delectable pre-prepared and pre-made meals for quick, no-fuss delivery. That ranges from some excellent butter chicken and laksa, to beef lasagne, wagyu beef pillow pies, cottage pie, and vegetarian risotto.
That’s the regular menu though. Their Christmas specials are truly something to behold.
From $36pp, the Christmas packs are now being delivered as long as orders are in soon. The cut-off date for NSW deliveries, for example, is 20th December – this Sunday.
And what’s in the Christmas packs? There’s some various ones, but they have enough of a range to suit all budgets while supporting the local economy which is still reeling from everything 2020 has thrown at us.
There are individual dishes like the $89 stuffed roasted salmon fillet, and the boneless leg of ham – also $89. But the packs are of particular interest. Right now most things are sold out, but you can still get “small” or “large” packs. The large one, for example, is designed to feed 8-10 people and nets youa boneless leg of ham, rolled chicken roast, beetroot & pumpkin salad, classic potato bake, slow roasted wombok, and a spiced bread & cherry semifreddo.
Given how good the butter chicken and those wagyu pillows taste, I expect there to plenty of love poured in to these packs.
