Tokyo may be one of the most popular travel destinations for Aussies right now, but it doesn’t necessarily have a reputation for being a “digital nomad” city. Given that space is a premium, language barriers still very much exist, and Japan’s love of rules and paperwork, it’s a reputation that in the past has been somewhat justified.
Enter Hapon, an English friendly co-working space just a few minutes walk from Shinjuku Station which is making it easier for those digital nomads and wandering entrepreneurs who want an alternative to cramped café working.
Hapon have just launched their “Traveller Ticket” initiative, where any worker can come and use the space without having to pay high daily fees or commit to long term rentals. How the system works is that international users can simply pre-purchase a discounted book of daily pass tickets (5-day or 10-day ticket books available), pay, and that’s it.
There’s no commitment obligation, and all the ticket passes are valid without limit, so there’s no requirement to use them on consecutive days. Just pop by whenever you’d like. If you’re working in a team, you can share the tickets with your friends or business partners, making it an ideal professional option for collaborative projects and meetings.
An antithesis of cold corporate office spaces, the interior of Hapon is laid back and balances stylish aesthetics with professionalism, the furniture in the main co-working space is unique and comfortable, providing plenty of opportunity for larger groups.
Those wanting something a little more permanent can grab one of the private booths or meeting rooms which are available for rent at an additional fee. The office also serves seasonally selected crafted coffee and a varied selection of other drinks, including hard to find artisanal offerings sourced from local producers in Japan.
