A new millennial-focused river cruise brand has debuted its first ship, simple titled “The B”, in Paris, France with a maiden voyage along the Seine River. U by Uniworld has stepped onto the scene in a big way, offering up a distinctive program of river cruising targeted towards millennials aged 21 to 45.
“We’re thrilled to make history with the launch of U by Uniworld and introduce a whole new generation to river cruising”, offered President & CEO Ellen Bettridge. “It’s very exciting to see this vision come to life and to have such influential, well-travelled young people onboard to experience it for the first time”.
If the first cruise is anything to go by, those heading on board The B in the future can expect a stacked community-minded program from yoga and silent discos to mixology, impressionist art and wine classes. Offshore, the maiden voyage included immersive excursions in France like a panoramic breakfast on a Gastrome bus, a treasure hunt at the Louvre, a secret tour of Versailles, and a Paris City Roofs tour.
The B Ship, which is a renamed and redesigned vessel that used to be known as Uniworld’s River Baroness, is being pushed as an ultra-modern, ultra-slick ship with space for up to 120 travellers per voyage, spread across four suites, 26 Balcony Bedrooms, 29 Studio Bedrooms, and two addition Studio Bedrooms with triple occupacy. All guest rooms boast waterfront views and come equipped with built-in Bluetooth speakers and modern features including organic BeeKing amenities.
Aside from the rooms, the ship’s stylish all-matte black exterior frames two rooftop venues, a spa, a team of mixologists and international DJs, communal tables, and a curated food offering which is dedicated to farm-to-table cuisine, with dishes ranging from Bea Tollman’s spaghetto pomodoro, specially made quinoa burgers, miso marinated wild salmon, and peanut butter bacon chocolate bars.
With a smartphone app in the works, the cruise is also primed for modern technology, pushing away from those traditional paper itineraries cruises are known for with WhatsApp and e-mail internal communication, digital menus displayed on screens in the bar and restaurant, and even a Press Reader app for guests to receive news onboard.
U by Uniworld will be offering up various itineraries for The B as well as their second cruise ship titled, you guessed it, “The A”. Sailings start from April 2018 with bookings open from March 2018, spanning four different 8-day itineraries including “The Seine Experience”, “Germay’s Finest”, “The Danube Flow”, and “Rolling on the Rhine”. Overnight stops and longer stays will be available in major cities including Paris, Vienna, Amsterdam and Budapest.
