Lotus Dining – Chris Yan’s modern take on Chinese – has been bringing customers their second location in The Galeries for less than two months, but they’ve already become one of the most popular destinations in the building, which is celebrating their “Spring Social” this weekend. And Lotus are joining in on the festivities, offering a special, one weekend only $49 degustation menu. We got a taste of it last night and here’s what you can expect from the menu:
We opened things up with the fresh oysters. As delicious as they look.
Next came the steamed Xiao Long Bao. A classic done to perfection.
The steamed Jade Prawn Dumplings are worth the visit alone.
The crystal ice plant salad, with cucumber, enoki and black vinegar dressing served as something of a palate cleanser for what was coming up next…
We entered deep fried territory with the calamari, served with native spice salt and lemon dressing.
Then there was the crispy chicken thigh fillet, served with sesame vinegar.
The Wok Fried King Prawns with XO sauce and wing bean were my favourite of the mains.
Though everyone else seemed to choose the Crispy Eggplant, with honey and sesame as their favourite. What can I say? I love prawns! Green vegetables and steamed rice also accompanied this amazing run of food.
We washed it all down with the Spring Limited Edition Sake, presented with a Sakura petal.
And then there was the dessert. The signature strawberry watermelon cake by Black Star Pastry. It doesn’t get much more perfect than that. And I don’t think it’s possible to have been more full at the end of the run… Green
