Paramount and JJ Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions have set a date for Space Thriller, God Particle to be released February 24 2017.
The story follows a team of astronauts making a terrifying discovery which challenges the notion of reality and their desperate fight for survival. Nigerian-American filmmaker Julius Onah will be directing the film with no cast members being announced yet.
The studio and Bad Robot have been developing the project since 2012. Since then, Onah was attached as a director for God Particle with script by Oren Uziel. Furthermore, the film was developed through the low-budget Paramount InSurge label – then Paramount shuttered Insurge nearly a year ago.
Paramount-based Abrams produced Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation and the upcoming Star Trek Beyond along with the production and directing of Disney’s smash Star Wars: The Force Awakens. He is also the producer of upcoming film, 10 Cloverfield Lane, opening in March 11 with Dan Trachtenberg directing.
God Particle is the first title dated for release on February 24, 2017.
