That spin-off/prequel we have all been waiting for is finally here, bringing us back into Vince Gilligan’s beautifully dark world of Albuquerque, New Mexico. It has been almost a year and a half since we said goodbye to the universally acclaimed Breaking Bad so a chance to re-visit one of the show’s most memorable character, Saul Goodman, through Better Call Saul has unsurprisingly been met with a ridiculous amount of enthusiasm. AMC know just how big of a deal this spin-off is, and just how much pressure there is to get it just right. We now get a glimpse into just how things might turn out, and it’s all looking very promising.
Better Call Saul follows Bob Odenkirk’s Saul Goodman, a charming and rather sardonic beat-up lawyer who goes by a few names – from the trailer it seems that “James M. McGill” is the most used – and is just starting to make some footing in the big world of dodgy lawyer-dom. While it’s been confirmed that Walter White and Jesse Pinkman will not be appearing (at least in the first season) we are guaranteed some great scenes with Breaking Bad favourite Mike Ehrmantraut (Jonathan Banks) as you can see from the trailer.
Series executive producer Peter Gould has already confirmed that the time line of the show will vary, taking place before, during, and after the events of Breaking Bad, taking the already interesting premise and established mythology of the show and raising the stakes quite a bit.
Better Call Saul will premiere in the U.S over two nights, on February 8th and February 9th 2015
