Anne Hathaway plays boss to Robert De Niro in new trailer for The Intern

Roadshow Films have released the new trailer for the forthcoming dramatic comedy film The Intern starring Academy Award winners Anne Hathaway (Les Miserables, Interstellar) and Robert De Niro (Raging Bull, Silver Linings Playbook) and this time it’s Hathaway who gets to play boss.

Oscar nominated and award winning director Nancy Meyers (It’s Complicated, Something’s Gotta Give) both directs and has written the screenplay and it looks set to hit that sweet spot between a little bit silly and a little bit sentimental.

Ben Whittaker (De Niro) is a 70 year old widower who has come to realise that retirement isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Seizing an opportunity to get back into the workforce, he becomes a senior intern at an online fashion website run by Jules Ostin (Hathaway).

In the trailer we get to see some of the usual jokes about old people and technology, or how the career woman Jules is struggling to keep her life together. But unlike previous odd-couple pairings and drama-comedies it looks like Hathaway and De Niro have a unique chemistry that might give it that special feel-good vibe.

The film also stars Rene Russo (Thor), Anders Holm (Workaholics), Andrew Rannells (Girls), Adam Devine (Pitch Perfect), Celia Weston (No Reservations), Nat Wolff (The Fault in Our Stars), Linda Lavin (Wanderlust), Zack Pearlman (The Inbetweeners), newcomer Jason Orley, and Christina Scherer (Living with Uncle Charlie).

The Intern will screen nationally in Australian cinemas from 24th September 2015.
