Australian Box Office Report: Deadpool has Jackman’s number in another killer week

Deadpool might very well be more of a household name than Wolverine soon. The merc with a mouth has broken more than the fourth wall, topping every X-Men movie to date in the US and only trailing Days of Future Past’s worldwide gross.

Deadpool is only a couple of million away from hitting half a million worldwide and its second impressive week in Australia helped, as the unconventional superhero earned AU$7.9 million.

In other non-Deadpool related news, How to be Single stemmed the tide and had a nice opening week, earning AU$2.7 million while Ride Along 2 entered at third spot with AU$1.2 million.

Zoolander 2 had its official release and made itself AU$1.1 million. The sequel got a 3 out of 5 from us but isn’t doing as well as expected, although it might just have the gusto to outdo its predecessor.

Concussion, Will Smith’s apparent snubbed Oscar flick entered the box office at tenth spot, only earning AU$272k.

As a side note, Star Wars has finally been pushed out of the top 10, after 10 weeks.
