Thanks to the school holidays, last week’s 8th place film, Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie, shot up the box office ladder to 5th place. It made $966,000 and again, will probably be quite popular with the kiddies in the coming weeks.
In Australian feature film news, Mountain, directed by Australian BAFTA-nominated director Jennifer Peedom, sits at no. 12 on the box office ladder, and made $100,264 from 30 screens, including a screen average of $3,342 nationally. The film showcases our neverending fascination with mountains, and Peedom herself said, “It is certainly a unique offering, indicating that audiences have an appetite for this kind of immersive and musical cinematic experience”.
