This week’s box office charts saw a strong opening weekend for Murder On The Orient Express, which went straight to no. 1, earning $3.85m. This Kenneth Branagh-directed adaptation of the the Agatha Christie mystery classic premiered on 333 screens nationally, and managed an impressive screen average of $11,565.
Hot on its caboose was last week’s no. 1 film, Thor: Ragnarok, in 2nd place at the box office with an equally strong result of $3.84m. In its third week in cinemas, it remains on 522 screens nationally, earning a screen average of $7,364. It has made $26.5m since its debut, and is in 3rd place for 2017 box office earnings to date, behind Guardian Of The Galaxy Volume 2 and Beauty And The Beast.

Because of the strong titles in 1st and 2nd place this week, Bad Moms 2, which debuted last week, slid down one spot at the box office to 3rd place. It earned $1.75m this weekend, and has earned $6.38m since its release.
Last week’s 4th place film was Blade Runner 2049, however this has now dropped to 6th place after 6 weeks at the box office. Taking over in 4th spot is Jigsaw, which, like Bad Moms 2, also debuted last weekend. Jigsaw earned $455k this week, and remains on just 200 screens nationwide.
No movement for kid’s film My Little Pony: The Movie, which remains steady in 5th place again this week. It made $228k, and also remains on a little over 200 screens nationwide.
A cinema filled with big franchises is upon us, with the new Justice League film opening this weekend, which debuts The Flash and Aquaman to the film versions. Momoa vs. Hemsworth at the movies … the screens aren’t big enough that much beefcake …
