It had its limited release in 70mm and now The Hateful Eight has entered the box office arena and what a first week it enjoyed.
After its official opening, Quentin Tarantino’s 8th film has shot to number one with an opening AU$2.4 million, just edging out The Revenant which made AU$2.2 million.
Following on from Quentin, Kurt Russell and Samuel L. Jackson’s tour of Australia and New Zealand over the past couple of weeks, the brutal western made $311k in NZ too.
Goosebumps continues to surprise by taking third spot from Star Wars, but only just. The spooky kids movie made AU$1.9 million while Star Wars keeps doing impressive numbers in its sixth week with AU$1.8 million.
Meanwhile, The 5th Wave, Sisters, The Big Short and Daddy’s Home all hover above AU$1 million, keeping the battle for top spot close and the Aussie Box Office looking strong.
