After four weeks on top of the box office The Martian has finally been dethroned by The Dressmaker, which is great news as Australian films continue to contribute to an already stellar year.
Starring Kate Winslet and directed by Jocelyn Moorhouse, the adaptation of the novel of the same name made AU$3.1 million while The Martian now sits at second spot having made half of that.
Bridge Of Spies is closing in on The Martian too, not only in The States but down under, as it earned AU$1.3 million last week.
Vin Diesel’s The Last Witch Hunter debuted at fourth spot earning AU$1.1 million keeping Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension at fifth spot, earning only AU$700k in its second week.
Hotel Transylvania 2 had a small pre-release before its official opening on November 26 and it managed to earn AU$275k. It has been open in The US for nearly 6 weeks now and has made US$156 million.
