Batman: Return to Arkham release date confirmed, new trailer released

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment announced the official release date for Batman: Return to Arkham and also released a Side-by-Side comparison trailer.

Batman: Return to Arkham will be available on October 19, 2016, for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. There has been no confirmed release for PC as of writing. Due to the release of the completely broken Batman: Arkham Knight on PC, a lack of any PC release comes as no surprise.

This announcement comes two months after the game’s original release date.  Originally, the game was delayed due to Warner Bros. being unhappy with the progress of the game and wanted to deliver a “polished Batman Arkham experience”.

To celebrate the announcement of a release date, a trailer comparing the original Arkham release to the remastered versions was also released. The trailer compares several cutscenes and gameplay moments from both games.

Overall, the remastered version looks pretty good. The graphics have had a visible improvement, which is understandable considering both games were released on older hardware.

You can watch the video below:

Player models and NPC’s have had a significant graphical improvement, though Batman has lost some expressive detail on his cowl. Environments also look significantly better with some areas receiving additional weather effects. Mainly rain, because it is Batman.

Batman: Arkham Asylum seems to benefit the most from the update, due to the game being seven years old, though Arkham City‘s environments have received a substantial improvement.

Graphically, the game is coming along nicely. Let’s just hope the delay has helped with ironing out the original issues.
