Less of a battle and more of a profound statement, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1, decimates its closest competitor, taking in over $5.5 million in its second week.
Interstellar remains at a solid number 2, making over $1.5 million and Lets Be Cops drops to 3rd spot, taking just under $500,000.
New release Nightcrawler starring Jake Gyllenhaal was unable to compete against the 2 powerhouses at the top but still taking in over $500,000 in its opening week and landing in the top 3.
Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day had a fairly good week solely off of preview screenings. The family film comes in at number 5 almost matching Lets Be Cops.
Australia has kept their beloved comedies in the top 10 with Fat Pizza vs Housos opening at number 8 with a meer $280,000.
And new release Serena sneaks in at number 10 pulling in just under $200,000.

Although Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day did well with its preview screenings, it officially opens in theaters around Australia this week.
This week also sees the release of Ridley Scotts Exodus: Gods & Kings, the story of Moses and his rise against the Egyptian army.
Also opening is Australian horror flick Charlies Farm which stars Tara Reid and mystery The Captive starring Rosario Dawson & Ryan Reynolds as they attempt to solve a missing persons case after new evidence is uncovered.
