Everyone deserves a happy ending in first-look trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine

The “Merc with the Mouth” is back and more self-aware than ever in the first-look trailer for Marvel’s dip into the R rated territory of Deadpool with Deadpool & Wolverine.

Not much is known about the plot specifics, though we do know Matthew Macfadyen‘s as-yet-to-be-named character works for the Time Variance Authority, the multiversal organization first introduced in Disney+ series Loki, and that they track down Ryan Reynolds‘ titular nuisance for a mission, one that reunites him with Hugh Jackman‘s Wolverine.

Jackman apparently hung up the claws following 2017’s Logan, but the temptation to give the duo a proper outing proved too strong, especially since the last time they were properly alongside each other was in the much maligned X-Men Origins: Wolverine – the 2009 actioner that both actors have routinely made fun of.

There’s been a lot of chatter regarding the multiversal possibilities of the plot and that a variety of Marvel characters will make cameo appearances – including the oft-forgotten pre-Disney merge roster of Jennifer Garner’s Elektra and the Fantastic Four that comprised of Ioan Grufford, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans and Michael Chiklis – but director Shawn Levy (Free Guy) is keeping all things tight-lipped, as one would expect.

Deadpool & Wolverine is scheduled for release in Australian cinemas on July 25th, 2024.
