Oscar winner Benicio Del Toro will no longer be starring in Fox’s The Predator reboot, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter. Luckily, Fox is targeting Boyd Holbrook, best known as one of the stars of Netflix’s series Narcos, to replace Del Toro in the lead role.
Negotiations between Del Toro and Fox falling apart is suggested to be the reason behind the actors departure, though no official details have been revealed.
Del Toro’s departure is a massive loss for the studio, though Fox believe that Holbrook will be able to successfully take over as the leading man. To help increase audience interest in The Predator reboot, Fox is planning on hiring well-known actors for the support cast.
Predator is a much-loved franchise that has been cherished by fans for decades. The first film starred the 80’s action icon, Arnold Schwarzenegger, with the sequels starring Danny Glover and Adrian Brody. Each film consists a group of people being hunted for sport by an technologically advanced extraterrestrial species. Each film is pretty bad-ass and hopefully the reboot will continue this trend.
The Predator is expected in 2018.
