Denis Villeneuve’s Blade Runner 2 starring Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling set to film in July

Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner has been described as a “pinnacle of the science-fiction genre” since 1982 – and especially since its Directors Cut re-release in the 90s. There have been arguments surrounding a sequel for the iconic film, and even if it’s left many fans sceptical, it’s still going to happen regardless. Yes, Alcon Entertainment are encouraging fans to give the sequel movie a shot.

Scott won’t be on board as director for the sequel however – having worked on Sicario and Prisoners, Denis Villeneuve will be directing Blade Runner 2 with Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford set to star. Yes that’s right, Ford, after returning to don the Indiana Jones hat and the Han Solo jacket, is set to return as Rick Deckard. [Editor: I guess we’ll finally find out if he’s a replicant after all. But wasn’t the mystique part of what made the film so wonderful? I digress…]

It’s been announced by Alcon that production of the film will start in July with Warner Bros. supporting its distribution in the States and Sony for its global audience. No release date for the film has been confirmed but it’s said that the film will be released in 2017, with bets going around that it will premiere at Cannes.
