Expectations have been building ever since it was announced that X-Men and X-Men 2 director Brian Singer would be returning to helm the next film in the series, titled X-Men: Days of Future Past. They were raised even further with the release of the incredible first trailer last year, and are likely to shoot through the roof with the release of the new trailer.
The film will see the merging of the original trilogy (2000-2006) with the world of prequel X-Men: First Class (2011). Both sides of the series have been well received by fans and critics, and a follow up (titled X-Men: Apocalypse) has already been scheduled for 2016, so we should be quietly confident that Singer is going to bring the goods.
Here’s the official synopsis: The ultimate X-Men ensemble fights a war for the survival of the species across two time periods in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. The beloved characters from the original “X-Men” film trilogy join forces with their younger selves from “X-Men: First Class,” in an epic battle that must change the past – to save our future.
The film boasts one of the most phenomenal casts ever assembled for any film, let alone any superhero film. Franchise star Hugh Jackman is joined by Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Halle Berry, Peter Dinklage and Jennifer Lawrence, among many others.
