Andy and Lana Wachowski gave us one of the greatest sci-fi films of all time when they unleashed The Matrix upon us back in 1999. The film is still regarded as a classic amongst most circles, but the 2003 sequels failed to repeat the critical success of the original. Their filmography since has only included Speed Racer (2008) and sci-fi epic Cloud Atlas (2012).

Both films failed to ignite the box office, but are considered by many to be highly underrated. Their next film is an original sci-fi epic titled Jupiter Ascending. The Wachowskis have assembled an awesome cast led by Mila Kunis (Black Swan) and Channing Tatum (21 Jump Street), which also includes Eddie Redmayne (Les Miserables) and Sean Bean (The Lord of the Rings). Kunis and Tatum both started their careers in lighter fare for which they were not taken very seriously, but have both gained respect in recent years by going outside of their comfort zone.

The first trailer for the film, released late last year, did not do enough to whet the appetites of sci-fi fans around the world, but this second trailer will easily rectify that. This is an awesome trailer. It introduces us to the universe in which the film takes place, showcasing an array of otherworldly locations and creatures in top-notch CGI. Redmayne in particular looks to be relishing his villainous role in the film – hopefully it’s a star-making role for him!

Here’s the official synopsis: Jupiter Jones (Mila Kunis) was born under a night sky, with signs predicting that she was destined for great things. Now grown, Jupiter dreams of the stars but wakes up to the cold reality of a job cleaning toilets and an endless run of bad breaks. Only when Caine (Channing Tatum), a genetically engineered ex-military hunter, arrives on Earth to track her down does Jupiter begin to glimpse the fate that has been waiting for her all along –
