AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead has struggled to find a consistent point of quality one and a half seasons into it’s increasingly undead world. And while television trailers are traditionally manufactured to play on #hype, it is really looking like the spin-off will shake mediocrity in the back of half of season two. Debuted at San Diego Comic-Con, the action-packed trailer for Season 2b is here and provides us with a fairly close look at a very different set of circumstances.
Fans of FTWD will remember that the mid-season finale earlier this year effectively broke apart the mis-matched group of survivors into smaller, easily digestible pieces. This approach has worked in the past with The Walking Dead, being that the series was always great, but it never reached that next level until the back half of season 4, where the group was split into several parts and developed individually.
Madison is with Strand, Alicia, and Ofelia; Nick is by himself in what seems like Tijuana; and Travis is with his petulant, possibly (definitely) psychotic, son. Only time will tell if this decision will work in favour of the show, but for now, watch below with wide eyes because it sure looks like the game has effectively been stepped up.
Fear the Walking Dead will premiere in the USA on 21st August 2016, which means that it will hit Australia’s FX on Monday, 22nd August.
