First episodes of Aussie comedy series The Legend of Gavin Tanner released online

The first two episodes of The Legend of Gavin Tanner, a brand new five-part Australian comedy series, have been released on YouTube. Creator, writer and star Matt Lovkis has been appearing as Gavin in various YouTube videos over the past few years, and now he finally has his own series. Directed by Henry Inglis and produced by Lauren Elliott, the series has five episodes in total, three of which are yet to appear online. The first episode, titled ‘The Legend of Gavin and the Trophy’, follows Gavin on his quest to convince the other guys down at the footy club that he has been awarded trophies for being a legend over the years. It’s extremely well made and very funny, definitely worth a look!

Here’s the synopsis from the official website:

Gavin Tanner is a small-time criminal, dedicated big-mouth and lovable larrikin who is utterly convinced he’s the biggest ‘legend’ in Balladeen. The problem is, the community aren’t buying it! In fact, Gavin’s lack of genuine ability, coupled with his fondness for boasting, ensures opposition is pretty fierce. When his ‘legend’ status is challenged, his only option is to resort to dodgy schemes to prove just how legendary he is. Invariably his plans are exposed and brought crashing down, though not before wreaking havoc in the lives of those closest to him and causing mayhem in the greater community.

But all is not lost for Gavin, because he has hope in his heart. And if he can just keep the love of his girlfriend Trish and the adoration of his loyal apprentice-dealer Damo, no matter how much he’s brought down, he’ll always come out on top! Because after all… a true legend never admits defeat.
