It’s hard to witness any Hollywood film franchise released in this day and age without an Aussie attached. Names like Hugh Jackman, Margot Robbie, Jai Courtney, Rebel Wilson and the brothers Hemsworth are but a few who have found stardom in the land of the rich and famous.
However, the names you now know well are far from the only ones doing big things in the film industry, both at home and abroad. So, we thought we’d take a moment to look at the next batch of Aussie talent coming through, and name five of the best up-and-coming Aussie actors who are destined to become household names.
5. Kodi Smit-McPhee
Despite only being twenty years of age, young Kodi is an Aussie who already has a number of Hollywood blockbusters under his belt, including hit films such as ParaNorman, Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes and X-Men Apocalypse. His appearance in 2009’s The Road alongside Viggo Mortensen earned him an AFI ( Australian Film Institute) nomination and is a young Aussie star who is set to have a big career in years to come.
You can check out some of Kodi’s recent work on X-Men here:
4. Ariel Kaplan
While, unlike Kodi, this young actress doesn’t have Hollywood blockbusters on her CV just yet, Ariel Kaplan has made waves on the hit Aussie soap Neighbours. She featured on the show as Imogen Willis, quickly landing the role after a short screen test.
Showing herself to be an actress who has a real talent for dramatic scenes, Kaplan is going to be one to look out for in years to come. She recently left the popular Aussie soap to spread her wings in Hollywood. You can check out her work here:
3. Keiynan Lonsdale
Aussie actor Keiynan Lonsdale has only recently come into the public eye for his work in the Divergent film franchise, where he played Uriah Pedrad. But his name is fast rising, as Keiynan recently landed a dream gig in the hugely popular The Flash TV series as Wally West / Kid Flash, starring alongside Grant Gustin and Candice Patton.
His career shows no signs of slowing down with the upcoming third season of the show seeing the talented actor stepping into his own speed suit (pictured above). He is a man of many talents, too, featuring on the Australian TV series Dance Academy and releasing a few albums along the way. If you don’t know his name yet, rest assured it’s one you’ll be hearing about for years to come.

2. Yasmin Kassim
Another great Aussie actress who has grown her career from Neighbours is Perth born Yasmin Kassim, who plays Shay Daeng on the soap. Kassim was a standout addition to the cast in 2015, as she played the sinister character who took it all from the godfather of Ramsey Street, Paul Robinson (Stefan Dennis).
While she plays sinister roles on screen, by all accounts the former Miss World Australia runner-up has a heart of gold off screen, and is quite quickly earning her fame. She’s currently wrapping up a horror film with Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) called Jungle, and will soon be seen in an Australia-Chinese co-production Nest, which also stars Kelsey Grammer (Frasier). Be sure to watch out for this talented Aussie beauty gracing our screens for years to come.
1. Ryan Corr
And finally we end with Ryan Corr, an actor with amazing talent who deserves the top spot on our list. Corr has had some highly acclaimed and hit films already in his career, including starring opposite Russell Crowe in the Water Diviner and as Timothy Conigrave in Holding The Man, for which he won the AFCA Award for Best Actor. Look out for Corr on the big screen next in the Mel Gibson-directed film Hacksaw Ridge alongside Andrew Garfield, Vince Vaughn and Hugo Weaving.
Corr always delivers an amazing performance whenever he is on screen and played out some hard emotional scenes in the Water Diviner, making him a standout in the film. Many will also remember him from the smash hit Aussie TV drama Packed To The Rafters and later Love Child. He was most recently seen in the ABC series Cleverman playing Blair Finch.
Like the four other names on this list, Corr is a young actor to watch – and here’s one such clip that proves this, from The Water Diviner:
