Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Hemsworth and filmmaker George Miller to launch Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga in Sydney

Lady and Gentlemans…

Academy Award-winning mastermind George Miller will unveil his highly anticipated action adventure, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, in Sydney on Thursday, May 2, before he and the film’s stars begin their global publicity trek, travelling to Mexico City, the prestigious Cannes Film Festival, London, Miami, New York, Toronto and Los Angeles.

Golden Globe and SAG Award winner Anya Taylor-Joy will be joined by Australia’s own Chris Hemsworth at the star-studded Australian Premiere, where the film’s Australian cast — including Alyla Browne, Charlee Fraser, Lachy Hulme, and many more — will also attend the red-carpet event at the State Theatre.

Forty-five years since the original Mad Max was released and became a global phenomenon, Miller returns to the iconic dystopian world he created with an all-new original, standalone action adventure.

The latest episode in his seminal saga reveals the origins of the powerhouse character from the Oscar-winning global smash, Mad Max: Fury Road.

As the world fell, young Furiosa (Browne) is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus (Hemsworth). Sweeping through the Wasteland, they come across the Citadel presided over by The Immortan Joe (Hulme). While the two Tyrants war for dominance, Furiosa (Taylor-Joy) must survive many trials as she puts together the means to find her way home.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga will have its World Premiere at the Festival de Cannes with Out of Competition gala screening at the Grand Théâtre Lumière on May 15, before arriving nationally in Australian theatres on May 23rd.
