Hannah and Eliza Reilly new web series Sheilas set to premiere next month

The newest web series created by sisters Hannah and Eliza Reilly (Growing Up Graceful) will be known as Sheilas, and is set to premiere later next month and the 21st of August.

The four-part series has been funded under Screen Australia’s Gender Matters, a celebration of brilliant and innovative storytelling celebrating the growth of female Australian creators. Sheilas will be the first Gender Matters project to go into production.

In Sheilas, both Hannah and Eliza will look to tell some of the most interesting forgotten stories in history, focusing on real-life characters such as Nancy Wake, a North Sydney private school girl turned WW2 spy, Fanny Durack, Australia’s fastest female swimmer who was prevented from competing in the Olympics as it was considered immodest, Merle Thornton, whom after being fired from the ABC for being married, and refused a glass of lemonade at a bar because of her gender tied herself to the bar in protest, and finally Mary Ann Bugg, a badass 1800’s bushranging and widowed Mum, who soon hooked up with notorious horse stealer Fred Ward, as she helped him evade police, hunt for food and even read and write. you can check out the official trailer for yourself down below:

Sheilas will premiere on both YouTube and sheilas.tv on the 21st August, 2018.
