Universal Pictures just announced that Ice Cube and O’Shea Jackson Jr. will be heading to Sydney in September in support of one of the hottest films of 2015 – Straight Outta Compton. Joining them is visionary director of the film F. Gary Gray (Friday, The Italian Job). All three will be attending the Australian Premiere in Sydney on Tuesday 1st September.
Straight Outta Compton follows the true story of the kids from Compton armed only with their song lyrics, attitude and raw talent. Starring O’Shea Jackson Jr., Corey Hawkins and Jason Mitchell as Ice Cube, Dr. Dre and Eazy-E, the film follows their journey as frustrated and angry rebels from the hardest part of America who rose to become the legends of rap music.
Based on the lives of Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, Eazy E, MC Ren and DJ Yella, the film shows how these cultural rebels revolutionised the world with their words. Music to them, was like their weapon – the most powerful weapon they had against authority and the limitations set on them by the world.
Straight Outta Compton will hit Australian cinemas on September 3rd.
