Sydney’s IMAX Cinemas have revealed they will be one of only 20 IMAX Theatre internationally to have the 2D 1570 IMAX film print for the latest film in the Star Wars series, Episode VII: The Force Awakens. It will be the only IMAX cinema in Australia to have the print.
Much as he did with the Star Trek series before it, The Force Awakens Director J.J. Abrams has used IMAX cameras to shoot selected scenes, which will expand to fill the full height of the IMAX screen. And as Darling Harbour is currently the largest IMAX screen in the world, it’s an obvious choice to be included in the limited release of this special print.
Tickets for Star Wars: The Force Awakens at IMAX Darling Harbour will go on sale tomorrow, Tuesday 20 October. The first session will screen at midnight on 17 December and following sessions will screen every three hours across the next 24 hours.
