Looking back at seven of Alan Rickman’s most iconic roles

Just days after David Bowie passed away suddenly from cancer at the age of 69, the great British actor Alan Rickman has been taken from us at the same age, by the same curse. As the cinema world mourns this great loss, we wanted to take a look back at the acclaimed actor’s seven more iconic roles. He was more than just Hans Gruber and Professor Snape… he was a versatile actor with almost 30 years of big screen credits, and a truly iconic voice. He will be missed. Join us in this trip down memory lane…

7. Marvin – Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy

6. Sheriff of Nottingham – Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves

5. Col. Brandon – Sense and Sensibility

4. Harry – Love Actually

3. Sir Alexander Dane/Dr. Lazarus – Galaxy Quest

2. Hans Gruber – Die Hard

1. Professor Severus Snape – The Harry Potter Series

An honourable mention also must go to another voice role – as the Blue Caterpillar in Alice in Wonderland. Rickman will return to this role in Through the Looking Glass, which looks set to serve as his final on screen (ish) performance. It comes out later this year.
