Transmission Films have announced that the brilliant BAFTA and Golden Globe award-winning actor Bill Nighy will be travelling across Australia to promote his upcoming film, Their Finest with special event screenings in Sydney and Melbourne in April.
“The opportunity to host an actor as beloved as Bill Nighy is an absolute privilege,” said Transmission Films Joint Managing Directors Richard Payten and Andrew Mackie. “Audiences are sure to be charmed by him on and off-screen.”
Nighy has a long and prolific career, including such films as Love Actually, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, Valkyrie, and our personal favourite, as the brilliantly mo-capped Davy Jones in Pirates of the Caribbean. He has also made an appearance in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part One as the Minister for Magic, Rufus Scrimgeour.
Their Finest, from the producers of Carol and Brooklyn and the director of An Education, is set during the London Blitz and focuses on screenwriter Catrin, played by Gemma Arterton, and a makeshift cast and crew as they work to craft a film to try to life the nation’s spirits and inspire America to join the war. Their Finest is equal parts witty and romantic, and highlights the struggle of Catrin as she finds her voice among the mayhem of war. The film opens in cinemas nationally on 20th April with advanced screenings on the Easter long weekend.
Bill Nighy will be appearing at special event screenings on Sydney on Sunday 2nd April and Monday 3rd April at the Randwick Ritz, Event Cinemas Bondi Junction, Palace Norton Street and Dendy Cinemas Newtown. He will also be appearing in Melbourne on Tuesday 4th April and Wednesday 5th April at Cinema Nova, The Astor Theatre and Village Cinemas Rivoli.
