We’re returning back to the wonderful creepy world of shaky-cams and remote settings and sinister things afoot with new thriller/horror film The Visit. Writer/Producer/Director M. Night Shyamalan (The Sixth Sense, Signs) brings us the story of a brother and sister who are sent to go visit their grandparents’ remote Pennsylvania farm for a week. However things start to turn weird when the kids notice the grandparents may be involved in something far more disturbing.
From the trailer we’ve got the classic remote farmhouse that comes with a creepy well and an old run down shed that you’re not allowed to go into. Now I don’t know about you, but if I saw my Grandma feverishly scratching at the walls or she asked me to get in the oven to clean it, or saw my Grandfather mouthing a shotgun. I’d probably think twice about sticking around.
The film stars two young Australians Olivia DeJonge (from ABC’s most recent drama series Hiding) and Ed Oxenbould (Paper Planes, Alexander & The Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day) as well as Peter McRobbie as the Grandfather and Kathryn Hahn as the kids single mother.
Along with Shyamalan, co-producing is Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity, Insidious series) as well as Mark Bienstock (Quarantine 2: Terminal) with Steven Schneider (Insidious) and Ashwin Rajan (Devil) on board as executive producers.
The Visit is tentatively slated for a September 2015 release date through Universal Pictures Australia.
