Matt Ryan to reprise role as Constantine in new animated series

When NBC cancelled their DC Comics series Constantine in 2015 after just one season and 13 episodes due to poor ratings, many fans were left disappointed by the series premature ending. CW today announced some good news for those fans, however, with the show set to return as a limited animated series on their digital platform CW Seed.

It’s also been confirmed that the star of the live action series, Matt Ryan, will be reprising the role of the titular character in the new series, though there’s no word if any other actors or characters will be joining him. There’s also no word yet if the new series will link back to the storylines explored in the original series.

About six 10-minute episodes are expected sometime in the 2017-2018 season, and will joins animated DC Comics series Vixen on the CW Seed platform, which debuted its second season in October. The platform is also screening all 13 episodes of the original series for those who missed it in its original run.
