Naomi Watts oversteps her boundaries in new trailer for Netflix’s Gypsy

With its arrival slated for the end of the month, Netflix has released the first official trailer for its upcoming psychological drama Gypsy starring Naomi Watts.

And while the program appears to imbue the similar qualities of Netflix’s celebrated original programming, this trailer promises something far more lurid with its material when compared to the various dramas and superhero showdowns that are so prominent to the streaming service’s catalogue.

Co-starring Billy Crudup, Sophie Cookson, Karl Glusman and Lucy Boynton, Gypsy pivots on a New York therapist as she begins to develop highly unethical involvement in the lives of her patients. A method that is all but destined to result in disaster for everyone involved.

The 10-episode series has Fifty Shades of Grey director Sam Taylor-Johnson as the helmer for its first two episodes. While the rest of the series has been overseen by directors Victoria Mahoney (Yelling to the Sky) and Coky Giedroyc (Harlots). Newcomer Lisa Rubin has penned the series. Here is the offical synopsis:

The series follows Jean Halloway (Naomi Watts), a Manhattan therapist with a seemingly picturesque life who begins to develop intimate and illicit relationships with the people in her patients’ lives. As the borders of Jean’s professional life and personal fantasies become blurred, she descends into a world where the forces of desire and reality are disastrously at odds.

Gypsy will be released via Netflix on June 30th. Check out the new trailer below.
