Netflix and Marvel welcome Luke Cage and The Defenders to San Diego Comic Con

For the first time since Luke Cage emerged as Marvel and Netflix’s next original series, the cluster of stars forming the cast of the of the series took to the panel at Comic Con San Diego. Among the panel was Luke Cage to be Mike Colter, Alfre Woodard, Mahershala Ali, Theo Rossi, Simone Missick, Frank Whaley and Executive Producer, Cheo Hodari Coker.

Marvel’s Head of Television and Executive Producer on the show, Jeph Loeb ran the panel with more than a few surprises for the gathering crowds. There was an appearance by Jon Bernthal, who will play Frank Castle AKA The Punisher in the Netflix original series Marvel’s The Punisher.

There was an exclusive clip of Marvel’s Luke Cage doing some pretty neat things with a SUV door, a surprise video by Finn Jones, who will star as Danny Rand in the upcoming Marvel’s Iron Fist as well as the capping note, a reveal of season 3 of the Marvel’s Daredevil.

When all the smoke began to settle, Loeb had one final tantalizer for the fans to chew on, the logo for the upcoming Marvel’s The Defenders, which will bring Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist together for the first time.

The 4500 fans in attendance were also treated to a Netflix/Marvel Comic Con sizzle reel, with footage from Daredevil, Jessica Jones and first look at Luke Cage.

Marvel’s Luke Cage will premiere globally on September 30, 2016 at 12:01am PT.  Luke Cage will be the third original series under the Defenders umbrella to launch on Netflix, following Daredevil and Jessica Jones and coming before Iron Fist and Marvel’s The Defenders.

Marvel’s Luke Cage will follow the eponymous star after a sabotaged experiment leaves him with super strength and unbreakable skin. Luke Cage (Mike Colter) becomes a fugitive trying to rebuild his life in modern day Harlem, New York City. But he is soon pulled out of the shadows and must fight a battle for the heart of his city – forcing him to confront a past he had tried to bury.
