Netflix has revealed they will be partnering with E4 for a new horror comedy series Crazy Face, a six-part series starring Susan Wokoma and Cara Theobold and from the creative mind of BAFTA award-winning Howard Overman.
The series will revolve around an unlikely friendship between Amy and Raquel (Wokoma and Theobold) as they ‘attempt to navigate their way through the choppy waters of their early twenties whilst simultaneously kicking the ass of some seriously gnarly demons’.
The series is as much about post-teenage angst as it is demon slaying and exorcisms.
Howard experienced success with his original series Misfits and there’s an air of optimism that he has recreated that balance of comedy and drama with Crazy Face, as Larry Tanz, Vice President of global TV at Netflix said; “Crazy Face is an eccentrically unique and entertaining series that will resonate with audiences across the globe.
We look forward to once again partnering with Channel 4 to bring quality stories from innovative creators, like Howard Overman, to our members worldwide.”
Crazy Face will broadcast exclusively on E4 in the U.K., with Netflix streaming the series globally just after it’s premiered.
The series is one part of the bigger picture for Netflix, as the company has committed to spending $5 billion on original programming in 2016.
The series begins filming this week in Bristol.
