New image from Nicholas Sparks adaptation The Best of Me

Film Title: The Best Of Me

Adaptations of the novels of Nicholas Sparks have been a mainstay of romantic cinema ever since A Walk to Remember and The Notebook warmed and broke everyone’s hearts in the early 2000’s. Since then a new Sparks adaptation has hit the big screen every couple of years, including Dear John, Safe Haven and The Lucky One. The next Sparks novel to be adapted to film is The Best of Me, which stars James Marsden (The Notebook), Michelle Monaghan (True Detective), Liana Liberato (If I Stay) and Aussie Luke Bracey (GI Joe: Retaliation).

Roadshow has debuted a new image from the film, which shows Bracey and Liberato in the roles of Dawson and Amanda. Marsden and Monaghan play the older versions of the characters. The first trailer has also recently hit the web. Sparks adaptations have always been good for a romantic night at the movies, and The Best of Me looks like another success story.

Here’s the official synopsis:

The Best of Me tells the story of Dawson and Amanda, two former high school sweethearts who find themselves reunited after 20 years apart, when they return to their small town for the funeral of a beloved friend. Their bittersweet reunion reignites the love they’ve never forgotten, but soon they discover the forces that drove them apart twenty years ago live on, posing even more serious threats today. Spanning decades, this epic love story captures the enduring power of our first true love, and the wrenching choices we face when confronted with elusive second chances.
