Much loved Australian musician Nick Cave and his Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds collaborator Warren Ellis have once again taken their musical talents to the screen with their latest motion picture score for upcoming film Loin des Hommes, starring Viggo Mortensen.

This is the twelfth motion picture collaboration for the pair, who together have scored films such asThe Road and The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. “Very often a tension can happen between music and picture that is about chance and a kind of unknowingness that can be really amazing,” says Cave. “Just by putting together two things that were created in isolation, music and film, suddenly something quite magical can happen.”

For Loin des Hommes, Cave and Ellis have created a score that combines their quintessential string and piano undertones, and have experimented with electronics to create a soundtrack that conveys the intimacy and loyalty that is tested by violence and war.

The film, which is released on May 15th, also stars Reda Kateb and centres around Algerian war of independence. The soundtrack will be released on the same day and can be pre-ordered through iTunes.
