The nominations for the 2014 Screen Music Awards have just been announced, and they feature a selection of the best music from Australia’s best television programs, documentaries and feature films. The awards are staged jointly by APRA AMCOS and the AGSC (Australian Guild of Screen Composers), and “celebrate those quiet achievers of the Australian music industry who create the magic between screen and sound.”
Screen composers Antony Partos and Cezary Skubiszewski have gained the most nominations with an impressive six nominations each. Also worthy of note is composer David Hirschfelder, who has received two nominations for Feature Film Score of the Year for his work in The Railway Man and Healing.
AGSC President Guy Gross said the following about the nominations:
“Strike up the band for another wonderful celebration of what is sometimes not noticed, but always felt, the music that accompanies the images that tell our stories. Another quality selection of Film and TV nominations with many familiar names and exciting new comers to the limelight. Looking forward to a great night.”
