Oh you thought award season was over? Not at all. The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films are gearing up the 41st Annual Saturn Awards to celebrate achievements in both film and TV. While they haven’t been big winners in other awards shows, it’s looking like Anthony and Joe Russo’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier (11 nods) and Christopher Nolan’s divisive Interstellar (10 nods) are both standing in the lead of the huge pack of nominees in film.
Not far behind is, unsurprisingly, the colourful and hilarious Guardians of the Galaxy (9 nods), Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (8 nods), Edge of Tomorrow (7 nods), and The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (7 nods).
On the TV side of things AMC’s The Walking Dead (7 nods) – which is reviewed weekly on this website – walks in front of the pack, following closely by the disturbing (and awesome) Hannibal (6 nods).
From film scores to superhero adaptation TV series (a new category this year), Saturn Awards will award a very wide array of achievements and hopefully make up for many Oscar snubs.
The ceremony will take place on June 25th
