Production begins for Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard’s World War II film, Allied.

Principal photography began this week for Academy Award-winning director Robert Zemeckis’s romantic thriller, Allied.

Allied will see Brad Pitt continue to indulge his habit of appearing in the Second World War (see Fury and Inglorious Bastards) alongside Marion Cotillard.

Set in the midst of World War II, the film will follow intelligence officer Max Vatan (Pitt) who in 1942 North Africa encounters French Resistance fighter Marianna Beausejour (Cotillard) on a deadly mission behind enemy lines. Reunited in London, their relationship is threatened by the pressures of war.

The film is shooting in London, with production also slated for the Canary Islands.

Allied will be released in Australia on December 26, 2016.
