Sara West’s Mutt wins big at the 20th South Australian Screen Awards

The 20th South Australian Film Festival was held on Friday to celebrate the achievements of its peers, with the sold out gala event being hosted by Mat Kesting.

Sara West’s critically acclaimed short film Mutt led the charge with four awards, for Best Directing (Sara West), Best Male Performance (Oscar Redding), Best Female Performance (Jordan Cowen) and Best Cinematography (Maxx Corkindale).

The night also included the inaugural presentation of the Mercury Award, dedicated to celebrating one’s outstanding contribution to the South Australian film industry. The award was presented to cinematographer Ernie Clark, who entered the industry in 1971 at the age of seventeen,  and has gone on to work on projects such as The Water Diviner, Wolf Creek 2, Deadline Gallipoli and Red Dog.
