SBS reveals the program for their new free-to-air channel VICELAND, launching in November

The SBS network have revealed some exciting news as a new channel, SBS VICELAND will be installed on free-to-air TV next month on November 15th. The channel will be broadcasting programs, particularly aimed towards younger audiences, broadening their scope on the cultural diversity of the world through unique content they can either watch on TV or stream online.

SBS VICELAND will feature popular international favourites, which will be curated by the SBS network.  It will include news, current affairs, documentaries, entertainment and Australian and international movies targeted towards younger audiences. It also aims to bring more programs, creating an awareness on cultural issues, race, identity, gender, music, technology, fashion, food, travel, sports, and more. This follows the early announcement of SBS 2’s relaunch as SBS VICELAND on television and online platforms in conjunction with their content deal with youth media brand VICE.

SBS Director of Television and Online Content, Marshall Heald says: “SBS’s second digital channel has been the home of programs from around the world exploring youth and emerging cultures since SBS 2 re-launched in 2013. Now SBS VICELAND takes this to a new level with a truly cutting-edge, contemporary mix of local and international programs, made by young people, for young people, tackling the issues that matter to them today.

“Combining the much-loved shows of SBS 2 with the best of VICELAND’s unique global programming never before seen in Australia, SBS VICELAND will celebrate diversity in different ways, exposing people to new cultures and ideas, and helping young people understand the world in which we all exist. This is SBS unashamedly delivering on our purpose to provide multicultural and multilingual programs that inspire, inform and entertain, in a way that strongly connects to young Australians.”

SBS VICELAND launches on Tuesday November 15 at 4PM. For more information on the program guide for SBS VICELAND, go HERE.
