Second trailer released for Ghostbusters with a nod to the controversy of the first

The international trailer for the Ghostbusters remake includes more footage, which seems to allude to the race and gender controversy the anticipated film has attracted since the release of the first trailer.

New footage includes a scene in which Patty (played by Leslie Jones) attempts a stage dive, but the crowd parts and she falls to the ground. Lying on her back, she says “I don’t know if it was a race thing or a lady thing, but I’m mad as hell”. A nod, perhaps, to the controversy the film has garnered for Patty’s characterisation as a subway worker with ‘street smarts’, which some have claimed has racist undertones.

Christopher Hemsworth’s character Kevin is also featured more heavily in the international trailer. He is seen applying for a job as a receptionist for the Ghostbusters, and suggesting a logo for the team — a voluptuous ghost wearing red lipstick. “Is it the boobs you don’t like?” asks Kevin.

Ghostbusters will be released in Australian cinemas on July 14th.
