It was an unlikely friendship between the then-longest reigning English monarch and a young Indian man, but the true story of Queen Victoria and her worker Abdul Karim is to make its way to cinema in September.
Continuing on with his streak with the British monarch, The Queen director Stephen Frears has again partnered with Philomena actress (and royalty in her own right) Judi Dench, reprising her role as the powerful Queen whom she once played in 1997’s Mrs. Brown.
Bollywood actor Ali Fazal (Furious 7) plays Abdul, a servant asked to present Queen Victoria with a ceremonial coin. As soon as he goes against his instructions to not make eye contact with Her Majesty, friendship blossoms as the servant become the teacher in what looks to be a film about the heart of friendship during the burden of power.

Victoria & Abdul will be released in cinemas on September 14 and is distributed by Universal Pictures.
